In HHC applications on my handheld, I occasionally see a 'recreating contact index' message. How do I stop that?

If 'indexes' in HHC get corrupted, the application automatically recreates them so it can resume normal function. The process can take 5 to 15 minutes on the handheld depending on the total number of contacts on the device.

Occasionally HHC cannot complete this process and gets stuck in a 'recreating contact index' cycle. If you frequently run into this problem, it is very likely you are using an older version of Handheld Contact on your handheld device and need to update it.

Upgrade Handheld Contact on your Blackberry as follows.
  1. Open your BlackBerry web browser
  2. Click the trackwheel/menu key to access the menu and select Go To...
  3. Type www.handheldcontact.com/ota, click the trackwheel/menu key and select OK.
    • You are directed to the HHC For Act! Over-The-Air Install web page.
  4. Select the For BlackBerry installation click here link, click the trackwheel/menu key, and select Get Link.
    • You are directed to a web page containing links which correspond to different versions of ACT!.
  5. Select the link corresponding to the version of ACT! you are using, click the trackwheel/menu key and select Get Link.
  6. Click Download.
  7. You are prompted with a message reading "Application "HHC" already exists. Replace version "1.4.x.x" with "1.4.x.x"?".
  8. Click Yes to update Handheld Contact.
  9. Once the download has finished, reboot your Blackberry to complete the upgrade.
